The sector

Every HGV operator in the UK runs under an operator licence, and every licence comes with promises: vehicles kept fit and serviceable, drivers' hours kept, records kept, and a Transport Manager in continuous and effective control. When those slip, it's DVSA and the Traffic Commissioner who come asking, and the business's licence is what's at stake.

The experience

Andrew started out as an HGV driver, including international haulage. He went on to become Transport and Operations Manager of a large international haulage company working in the automotive and aerospace sectors.

There he tendered for just-in-time lanes, ran operational support, built the cost calculators, planned the routes, planned workshop and maintenance, and ran a full HGV workshop looking after more than 100 lorries. He was Transport Manager and Operations Manager for a fleet of more than 150 trucks.

Alongside that, he built the software to keep those fleets running tight and smooth, which is where Summit came from. It's the same system AJTC uses to run compliance for its own clients. He's a CPC-qualified Transport Manager who has personally handled DVSA responses, Traffic Commissioner correspondence and Public Inquiries.
